Tropical storms have been on the horizon all week and we’ve had lots of rain in Wilmington! It was tricky, but we managed to photograph this Stitch Fix in between rain showers, but the lighting was still less than ideal.
For this box, I asked for cozy layers to build up my Fall wardrobe and a lace detail cardigan if one was in stock. I also asked for jewel toned items because they compliment my complexion. Below is a sneak peek of the items I received in my box!
Skies are Blue Aguilar Tie Neck Blouse $64
The first item Sara chose because of the request for jewel tones. This is a nice work top. I love the pleated detail in the front, which gives this a feminine shape.
This blouse looks great with black pants (and would also work well with a black pencil skirt and heels…not my thing, but you get the idea!) This top just is very pretty, but I’m not a fan of the tie at the neckline, I wish it were a little bit longer, and I think the color is limiting. RETURNED!
Lila Ryan Liza Colored Skinny Jean in Dark Green $98
When I first saw green jeans in my Fix, I had a flashback to my high school days when I had a pair of green Bongo skinny jeans. Does anyone remember Bongo? Back in those days, jeans did not have the wonderful stretch that they do now and they were tough to get over my big feet! Haha!
These jeans were much softer material and the perfect fit in the waist, hips, and thighs! I was really excited until I looked down and they were about 2 inches too short! I know ankle jeans are a thing, but I just did not find this length flattering! The Stitch Fix algorithm really dropped the ball on this one! Above, the jeans are paired with a chambray top, Kendra Scott necklace, and Jeffrey Campbell Taggart booties. RETURNED!
Skies are Blue Plover Embroidered Chambray Top $58
This chambray top is a fun piece and pairs nicely with the green jeans. It would really look nice with any colored pants or a dark wash jean. The embroidery and neckline add some fun to this basic piece.
However, I would like this shirt better if it were longer and fit more like a tunic. It is also very prone to wrinkles and I cannot remember the last time I ironed one of my shirts before wearing, so it is not a shirt for me. Above, it is paired with Frye boots and the green Lila Ryan jeans. RETURNED!
Bay to Baubles Kyle Stone and Metal Fringe Necklace $28
It has been a long time since I’ve gotten a piece of jewelry in a Fix, so I was interested to try this necklace. I think it pairs perfectly with the chambray top and makes quite a cute statement. These two items really look like they belong together and I think Sara styled them well!
I am a Rocksbox subscriber, so I always have a rotating selection of fun, stylish jewelry. While this necklace is very cute, it is not a piece that I would reach for often and I’m in a place where I need to downsize my jewelry selection. RETURNED!
Skies are Blue Sisou Button Down Top $58
This top was on my Pinterest board and I’m really happy Sara chose to send it my way. I like the ribbon detail behind the front buttons and how there is a contrasting pattern when you roll up the sleeves. The material is comfy and cozy and it’s exactly the type of item I’d hoped to see in this box.
I styled this shirt casually with jeans and neutral Toms. This is exactly the type of outfit I wear after work and on weekends during the Fall. KEPT!
Since Sara was not able to send layers my way, I looked online for the type of cardigan I was hoping to receive. This lovely cardigan by Central Park West is the pearl cousin of the gray Bonay Fringe Detail cardigan ($118) you may have seen in Stitch Fix inventory.
I was lucky to find this item on sale on the Revolve website. This piece is stylish, cozy, and so elegant. I love how it looks styled over the chambray top and green jeans with a pair of Jeffrey Campbell Taggart booties. Perfection!
So, there you have my 34th Stitch Fix! Overall, I received some pretty good pieces, but 3/5 pieces in this box would have better suited someone a few inches shorter than me. I was not disappointed to send items back since I have set a goal to keep fewer items from each box in the hopes of getting my closet volume back under control. In this box, choosing the keeper was easy, but I know that some months it will be more challenging to stick to my resolution of trying to only keep 1-2 items! Please forgive me if I falter.
Until the Next Fix,
