Stitch Fix is an online personal styling service. It is a great way for the busy woman to get fun, stylish clothes delivered to her door each month. To get started, you fill out a personal style survey on their website. It is also helpful to create a Pinterest board with items that you would normally wear or would love to add to your closet. Each month, a stylist will send you five pieces of clothing and accessories for a $20 styling fee. You can try the items on in your own home and see how well they incorporate in your closet. If you keep an item, your $20 styling fee acts as a credit towards your purchase AND if your stylist send you and AMAZING box and you keep it all, you get a 25% discount! I have been doing stitch fix for almost a year. I love the surprise of getting clothing delivered to my door and when I do not like an item, I just slip it into the prepaid mailing envelope and send it back.
This month I asked the wonderful Sara for new pieces for my Fall wardrobe. She delivered some great items from my Pinterest board and beyond and I am excited to share those with you today. I kept the entire box this month due to the 25% discount. I really liked 3 pieces, the most expensive ones! So, the cost savings of the other two pieces made it more reasonable to keep the whole box. You may not be able to tell from my face, which reflects my tiring week at work, but I was super excited about this box and hope you enjoy my review!
Crescent Himsbury Crew Neck Blouse $48
This blouse is a beautiful cobalt color and the teal paisley detailing in back is a fun touch. Although I paired it with the Gorjana Marmont Fringe necklace in the picture, it also looks great with the Romolo Starla Ornate Collar necklace from a previous fix. This was a pretty piece, but one I could take or leave. The fit of this top was a little bit snug through the chest and shoulders and while I really liked the back detail, my lab coat will hide it during the workday.
41 Hawthorn Zappo Printed Mixed Material Sweater $58
This sweater was something I did not like when I pulled it from the box, but when I styled it with my ripped Genetic jeans and Toms it had a fun, casual feel. The material is super soft and I can see this being a piece I will enjoy for Fall. I was on the fence, but took the plunge to receive my 25% off discount.
Margaret M Emer Houndstooth Straight Leg Pant $98
Of course, I’m in love with the Emers! These are now my go-to work pants. They are very comfortable and look much more professional than they feel. I was really excited to get the burgundy houndstooth because they make an instantly fun outfit with just a solid top and some accessories. The length is perfect for wearing with heels or a pair of boots!
I styled these a couple of different ways since I have noticed a few posts on the Stitch Fix B/S/T Facebook page requesting styling ideas. The first look is with a Kate Spade peplum top, Kendra Scott necklace, and Payless pumps. The second look combines an Anthropologie sweater in cream, Frye boots, and a Birchbox rhinestone necklace. I think with a fun pair of patterned pants, simple tops are usually best. These pants would also look great with chambray top, booties, and a chunky wool scarf, but I do not have those items in my closet to create a third look.
Market & Spruce Julia Utility Jacket $78
This jacket was on my Pinterest board and I was excited to see it in my box. I went back and forth on whether or not to size up to a small, but decided that due to the thickness of the material this works best as a light Spring jacket or a blazer. The material is thin, but the color is beautiful and it has great little navy and white polka dot detailing on the sleeves and inside. This was a keeper!
Pixley Kathy Striped Fit & Flare Dress $68
My love-hate relationship with Stitch Fix dresses continues! If you have read my previous posts, you may have noticed I’ve been trying strategies to keep me from getting dresses in my boxes. It takes all of my willpower not to pin them….why does my workplace have to be freezing year round? I digress. Sara sent me a dress she has in her closet for this fix and I adore it! If I break down and buy a dress, this is exactly the type I would choose in a moment of weakness. The material is high quality and the long sleeves will keep me warm if I wear this to work. The fun style reminds me a similar silhouette Kate Spade dress that is hanging in my closet. I could not resist this high quality dress at such an amazing price! Besides, a dress occasion is bound to come along this Fall, and now I am prepared. 🙂
Sara did a great job helping me start a new Fall wardrobe with Stitch Fix #17. Now I can’t wait for cooler weather to come around so I can break out my new Houndstooth Emers! I’m already eagerly awaiting Stitch Fix #18.
